John B. Pavlick, initially founded Pavlick Roofing and Contracting, in 1959. He started as an apprentice in 1945 specializing in slate and tile roofing. He eventually started his own business – Pavlick Roofing – where he worked along side his wife, Margaret, for 29 years before retiring in 1988. His son, John J. Pavlick, worked at his father's side for 14 years before senior Pavlick retired. John junior purchase the business in 1988 and has continued to maintain the Pavlick reputation. John senior past away in 1997. His legacy continues in Pavlick Roofing.

Pavlick Roofing has been at their original location at 3241 Industrial Blvd. since 1964. John senior initially built the building; they have added two additions since the original structure was built. The Pavlick's were the first to construct a building in the planned expansion of Industrial Boulevard. Initially there were no roads, streetlights, or utilities for two or three years. Pavlick Roofing and Contracting is a family run business. The oldest of the Pavlick children, Sharon, made the original Pavlick Roofing sign when she was just 14 years old, and it was up for many years before being replaced. While the three children were growing up - Sharon, Debbie, and John -they worked in the garage during the summer breaking up metal for their father. Many of Pavlick Roofing's slate roof jobs are in Upper St.Clair's Westminster Manor. Slate and tile are among the most expensive of all roofing materials, but worth the cost if you want to put an old house back into mint condition or add elegance to a new one. Slate and tile roofs are very durable; they can last up to 50-to-60 years and are fire resistant. However, the majority of Pavlick Roofing's work is asphalt and fiberglass shingles. They are also durable, available in a wide variety of weights and colors, and relatively inexpensive, when compared to slate and tile. Asphalt and fiberglass shingles are used on practically all new construction and account for the roofs on most residences in America. In 1987 Pavlick Roofing added the name Pavlick Contracting to their portfolio. This decision was made to provide homeowners with a comprehensive exterior service. Pavlick's expansion included roofing, siding, and window replacements. Homeowner's want a quality job organized by a replicable and seasoned professional.
